How Cenote
Came to Be

Cenote (pronounced se-NO-tey) roughly translates to: a surface entrance to an underground body of water, traditionally used by locals as a communal space for fresh water, gatherings and ceremonies.

We opened in 2012 as an event space and beer hall to a a group of regular university students. Since then, Cenote has organically evolved into what we are best known for today—our cocktail culture!

Cenote is Victoria's underground watering hole, where the cocktails and food are made with conscious care using local suppliers.

It may be the only place in Victoria where you’ll find a giant painting of a killer whale on a unicycle, an extensive library of books, board games, the healthiest plants you’ve ever seen in a basement, AND quality food made with local ingredients.

Oh yeah, and some seriously good drinks.
